Dear HGV2006 Meeting Delegates:
I am writing to update you on the meeting logistics of HGV2006 coming up in about two weeks.
- The poster board's dimensions are 1 meter wide and 2 meters high. Your poster should therefore be in "portrait" orientation and approximately 1 meter wide and 1.3 meters high.
- There will be prizes given out to the best posters from trainees. The posters will be judged for their content, their presentation in print, and their presentation in person (the judges will be asking you to tell them about your poster)
- The meeting dress is "casual". No ties or jackets required, even for the banquet.
- The meeting excursion Saturday afternoon is to the Victoria Peak and there is enough time to take a walk around the peak (about 1 mile on a paved, level path). Bring comfortable walking shoes so that you'll enjoy the walk. If you'd rather not do the walk, there is a nice shopping mall at the peak where you can do some shopping and have a snack.
- If you are bringing a companion but have not signed up for "companion package", you can still do so. Contact Mrs. Esther Lai to see what your options are. Some of you may want to sign up just for the excursion and banquet for the companion. Mrs. Lai has the pricing for this specific option.
- The local meeting staff has looked at the arrival times of the delegates and has decided that because you are arriving throughout the day on Wednesday and Thursday, chartering buses is not the best solution for ground transportation. They have devised a new plan to coordinate taxi rides for delegates arriving between 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Wednesday, 13 Sep; and between 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM on Thursday, 14 Sep. If you want to take advantage of this optional plan, please proceed to the McDonald�s in the Hong Kong Airport Arrival Hall located between Hall A and Hall B (marked 3 on the attached map), where the HGV2006 Meeting Staff will be waiting with the HGV2006 Meeting sign. The meeting staff will organize delegates into groups of 3, who will share a taxi going from the airport terminal to the Le Meridien Hotel directly. Delegates will pay the subsidized rate of US$15/HK$120 to the meeting staff at the airport (exact change in HK$ or US$ is appreciated; exchange service is available at Travelex in both Hall A and Hall B (marked #2 and #26 on the map). The meeting staff will lead delegates to the taxi stand for the taxi. Upon arrival at the Le Meridien Hotel, please do not pay the driver, the meeting staff greeting you at the hotel will pay the taxi driver the exact fare. If you exit the customs area outside of the time period where the meeting staff is at the airport, please use one of the other options listed in the meeting website.
