Final agenda
This symposium will focus upon the exploitation of variation in the human genome in the study of complex genomes. Aspects to be covered this year will include methods/strategies for effective utilization of different types of DNA variation (e.g., single nucleotide polymorphisms-SNPs and copy number variations-CNVs), functional genomics applications, population genetics, ethics, bioinformatics, and the study of human disease. This meeting is the 8th in a series of international meetings devoted to the analysis of SNPs in complex human diseases but now has integrated the burgeoning field of copy number variation. Hence, it has been renamed HGV2006.
Reports of previous meetings in this highly successful series can be found
in Science (1998,281:1787-9), Nature Genetics (1998, 20:217-8), Trends
Genetics (2001, 17:15-16), Human Mutation (2001, 17:Special Issue), European
Journal Human Genetics (1999, 7:98-101; 2000, 8:154-156; 2001, 9:316-318;

Meeting Format
Attendance at the meeting is competitive, based upon quality of submitted abstracts. Initial applications to attend must
therefore be accompanied by one or more relevant scientific abstracts.
One abstract (and likewise one set of results) cannot, however, be
used to support the application of more than one individual.
The deadline for applications (including abstract submission) is 22 May
2006, and acceptance/rejection decisions will be made on or before
1 June 2006. Confirmation of attendance, with payment, is due on or before 30 June 2006.
All meeting participants are required to present the
science described in their accepted abstract, in poster or oral format,
as chosen by the abstract selection committee.
A number of meeting grants are available to students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty members from under-represented groups, who are encouraged to attend this international meeting. Please indicate your interest in competing for a meeting grant when submitting your abstract.
Venue
Le Meridien Cyberport Hotel, Hong Kong, SAR, China
Meeting Fees
Including registration, three nights of hotel (arrive 14 September, depart 17 September), and all meals:
- Delegates from academic and governmental institutions: USD 850 (HKD 6,600)
- Delegates from industry: USD 1,050 (HKD 8,150)
Registration, without hotel accommodation (includes all lunches and
dinners):
- Delegates from academic and governmental institutions: USD 350 (HKD 2,700)
- Delegates from industry: USD 500 (HKD 3,900)
For delegates wishing to arrive early or stay after the meeting, extra nights at the Le Meridien Cyberport Hotel can be booked at the guaranteed rate of HKD 1,300 (USD 170) per night 3 days prior to and 3 days after the meeting, contingent on room availability.
